Every card is an army in a beautiful papercraft world full of surprises. Choose from slimes, ghosts, a bug hivemind, giants, and more, across 21 distinct packs with unique playstyles. Earn the cardboard crown solo or online with up to three friends.
Cardboard Conquest is a roguelite deckbuilder that resolves like a battle instead of a duel. Each card you play becomes a squad, a spell, a trap or a siege engine, dropped exactly where you placed it on a living battlefield; you plan the deployment, press End Turn, and the whole field moves at once. Every run opens with a draft of 21 themed card packs. You take three, and they become your entire card pool, right down to how your commander is put together. Climb a branching war map through 3 acts, break 8 act bosses that each hide a signature phase, and take the crown. Solo, or in online co-op for up to 4 warlords sharing one battlefield, one map and one fate.
A free playtest build is on itch.io now: https://thepaulbooth.itch.io/cardboard-conquest . Steam Early Access is planned for March 2027, after Steam Next Fest in February.
AI disclosure: card art, event art, background images and music are AI-generated and human-curated. Code, design and writing are by Paul.
"I put so much love into the juicy components and surprises - 80 custom earworm songs, more than 2 dozen different endings, and a whole bunch of easter eggs. It's the game that I knew would get me hooked, slathered with a maximalist approach to fun. Cardboard-core is very in!" - Paul Booth, PB& Games
